- 01Volunteering is one of those things that genuinely gives you more than you put into it.
- 02It sounds like a cliché, but once you actually try it, you realize how true that is.
- 03Last summer, I spent a few weekends helping out at a shelter that takes in stray dogs and cats.
- 04We basically walked the dogs, cleaned out their cages, and tried to get the shyer ones used to people again.
- 05What really struck me was how much patience it took, especially with animals that had clearly been mistreated before.
- 06It made me realize that small, consistent effort can genuinely rebuild something's trust, whether that's an animal or a person.
- 07So yeah, I'd say volunteering pushes you to be more patient and a lot less self-centered than you normally are.
